30 years without a day off sick

Steinar Hauskevaag (55) was one of the three who founded InCon 30 years ago, and he has not missed a day through illness ever since.

“The company has changed extensively, but the job that is done today is technically fairly similar to what it was at the outset,” he says.

Along with Stein Bergo, who still works for the company, and a third partner, he established InCon in June 1988. Two of them were located in Stavanger and one in Bergen. From the very start, they performed inspections on oil drilling equipment.

They have been bought up twice, first in 1997 and then in 2015, when the company became part of WellConnection.

Steinar works in logistics. The oil sector has changed radically over the years. Today, it is hard to operate in it without having good systems around you.

“There are much stricter standards with regard to documentation, and work on the drilling equipment is both more extensive and more thorough than it was in 1988.”

He is delighted that the company he helped to found is still going strong and experiencing growth.

“We started out with three people, and the Group now employs 145. Obviously, my working day is a lot different to 30 years ago, but I am very pleased with how things have turned out,” says Hauskevaag.
