New demands

Edvin Bauge has worked at WellConnection Mongstad for 44 years. In that time, things have changed dramatically – particularly in relation to health, safety, the environment and quality (HSEQ).

Bauge started working for Frank Mohn in Bergen on 30 July 1974. He remained on the payroll of the Frank Mohn Group until the company was acquired by WellConnection in 2015.

“I’m a CNC operator and worked as a machinist in the production area for 25 years. It’s an excellent background for what I do now,” he says.

Today, he is responsible for HSEQ at the company, which means he follows up health, safety, environmental and quality issues on a daily basis.

“I also get involved in much more besides, since I have a lot of production experience. That includes machines and machine procurements, maintenance and work with other equipment at the firm.”

Things have changed since he started out in the industry more than 40 years ago. HSEQ requirements are much stricter and demands for delivery times and earnings have been tightened up.

“You might say the industry took a more cavalier approach to things when I started than it does today. And that’s a good thing,” he adds.

Really great

Even after 44 years with the same company, he still loves his work.

“I have never seriously considered leaving. We have a really great time at work here. Good co-workers and interesting work make each day eventful, challenging and exciting,” says Bauge.
